Fall Cleanup & Leaf Removal

Fall Cleanup & Leaf Removal

Leaves gone, beds cleaned, mulch down — owner-operated, based in Haymarket.

Every fall, Northern Virginia’s oaks, maples, and poplars bury the lawns of Haymarket and Gainesville — and every spring, the yards where leaves sat matted all winter show it: snow mold, smothered turf, stained pavers, and beds full of rotted leaf packs. Cornerstone Property Care is a local, owner-operated outfit based in Haymarket, and fall cleanup is exactly the kind of thorough, careful work we built the business on.

We handle the whole property — lawn, beds, hard surfaces, corners, and fence lines — and we time the work to the trees, not the calendar. You will not pay for a cleanup in mid-October that vanishes under the oak drop three weeks later.

What a Cornerstone fall cleanup includes

Whole-Property Leaf Removal

Lawn, beds, patio, deck, driveway, and walkways — blown out, raked from the corners, and gathered. We do not stop at the open grass; it is the leaves packed into bed edges, window wells, fence lines, and behind the AC condenser that cause trouble.

Disposal, Your Way

We either haul every leaf off your property, or bag it all in county-compliant paper yard-waste bags for your regular curbside pickup — Prince William County collects yard waste March through December, and it must be in paper bags or labeled cans, never plastic. Your call — we quote it both ways so you can pick.

Flower Bed Cleanout & Mulch

Beds raked clear of leaves, and — if you want the spring look locked in early — a fresh layer of mulch before the ground freezes. Leaves matted into beds smother plants and give voles winter cover; clearing them now is cheap insurance.

Hardscape & Patio Protection

Wet leaves wintering on pavers and concrete leave brown tannin stains behind. Every cleanup clears your patio, walkways, and driveway along with the lawn — and if stains have already set in, a surface clean brings the hardscape back.

TIMED TO THE TREES

Why we schedule cleanups late — and sometimes twice

Maples and poplars around here drop in October, but the oaks that dominate our older neighborhoods hold their leaves well into November — some until Thanksgiving. A cleanup done too early looks great for two weeks and then disappears under the second wave. We would rather time it right than sell you a job that will not last.

For most yards, one thorough late-season visit does it. Under heavy canopy we will tell you honestly if a two-visit plan makes more sense — a mid-fall pass so the lawn can breathe, then a final pass after the oaks finish. Leaves left matted over winter mean snow mold, dead turf patches, and tannin stains on your concrete and pavers come spring.

Fall cleanup where you live

We keep our service area tight on purpose — it is what lets us show up on time and do careful work. We serve the Town of Haymarket and Gainesville, and the communities we know street by street: Dominion Valley (where the owner lives), Piedmont, and Heritage Hunt. See the Haymarket and Gainesville pages for what fall looks like in your corner of the area.

Already thinking about the rest of the season? Once the leaves are handled, fall is also the right time to get on the Christmas light installation schedule.

Fall cleanup FAQs

When should I book a fall cleanup?

Get on the schedule by early November. The oaks that dominate our area do not finish dropping until mid-to-late November, so final cleanups run from then into early December — and the calendar fills fast once the first big drop hits.

Should I have you haul the leaves or bag them for pickup?

Whichever suits you — we quote it both ways. Hauling means everything is gone the day we finish. Bagging costs less and works well if your trash service collects yard waste; just remember Prince William County requires paper yard-waste bags or labeled containers — plastic bags get left at the curb.

Can you clean out the flower beds and re-mulch too?

Yes — bed cleanout and fresh mulch are both available as part of the visit. We clear the leaves out but leave the plantings themselves alone — no pulling, no pruning, no guesswork on plants we did not put in. Tell us what you want when you request the quote and we will price it as one job.

Do you mow or do the last cut of the season?

No — we keep fall cleanup focused on what we do best: leaves, beds, and mulch. If a mowing crew handles your final cut, we are happy to coordinate timing so the cleanup lands right after it.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes — locally licensed in Prince William County and carrying $1M in liability coverage. You are protected, and so is your property.
